I have heard the news, and it isn't good.

2 blown head gaskets, at least, to the tune of $2,500.

They are tearing the engine down to see if it is going to need to be replaced (for an extra $360.)

If I have cracked or warped the engine, it will be:

$3,600 for a used engine with a 6 month warranty, for an engine that already has 47,000 miles on it.

or

$4,600 for a new engine with a 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty.

(Obviously, if I wind up buying a new or used engine, I don't pay for head gasket replacement. Those prices include all labor.)

I'll likely be hosting a lot of sales in my journal as I sell anything that isn't nailed down to help pay for this. Sorry about that in advance.

Oh crapazoid. :( I have been there and it sucketh. I'm sure you've considered this, but is the car worth potentially $5,000 in repairs? What's its blue-book? For the same money you could get a used car that might be in much better shape.

it is not actually the gaskets that cost so damn much but the labor involved, and that is utterly absurd!!!

thinks Bob should consult with attorney and other "Equinox owners to form class action suit against GM in this issue. i am not a law suit happy person, but this has happened to way to many people who have purchased and own this particular vehicle.
