I enjoyed writing my list earlier so much that I'm going to challenge myself to write a list of things that didn't suck every day for a week. I encourage everyone to play along by posting a list of things that didn't suck each day in their journal, too, or at least commenting on mine and telling me things that didn't suck. I'm just naive enough to believe that putting that much positive energy into the world for a week can make a difference, and if it doesn't, I have lost nothing.

For anyone thinking that their lives are so horrible that they can't find at least one or two things that don't suck each day, I encourage you to do something each day to make someone else's life better, even if it is just smiling at them and receiving a smile in return. If you can't accomplish at least that much positivity, then A) you need to seriously re-evaluate your life choices, and B) I'm not 100% sure I need you in my life. I am throwing that out there pre-emptively to the Negative Nellies that tend to pop up on these kinds of posts.

To recap: 1 week. At least 1 positive thing each day.

Game on.

Sounds good!

I applaud your resolve to find the good even as you are going through such a tough time.

*hugs*

Thanks, hon!

I figure I've got nothing to lose by trying to be positive, you know?

How is Babar working out? Still liking the new mask? (I read...I'm just the suck at commenting sometimes.)

Babar is ok...I think I am still getting used to it, but this mask is definitely a big improvement over the other one.

I don't know how long I'll keep it up, but I figure a week is as good a place to start as any!

That's not naive, sweetie, that's creating our reality the way we want it to be. Good for you; I'll play!

I promise to keep on doing the Kaylee Tuesday Tuneups and Thankful Thursdays so some positivity keeps flowing. It's been a commitment for some time and I hope that's enough to satisfy you that you need me in your life.

But in the meantime, you do know that kissing you is on my 101/1001 list of things to do with my life? The prospect of that happening is akin to finding the grail and having a good drink from it, and it keeps me going when things are dark.

Definitely! You usually find the bright side of most things in life, even if it takes a few days sometimes. It's one of the many things I love about you.

And I look forward to that, too. I have decided that that's a condition anyone I get in a relationship will just have to understand: When I finally meet [livejournal.com profile] bodhifox, he gets a kiss. No Exceptions.

These things intrigue me will you tell me more? "Kaylee Tuesday Tuneups and Thankful Thursdays"

Kaylee is the ship's mechanic from Firefly. Every KTT starts like this:

I don't believe there's a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just want to duct tape her mouth and stick her in the hold for a month. -Mal Reynolds

It doesn't hurt to be a little bit Kaylee about life.

And then I write about something positive, no matter what. Or I'll ask for people to. Kaylee Tuneup...

Thankful Thursdays are just a day to remember to write about soomething for which I'm thankful. It serves to focus on blessings for lack of a better world. I guess on Thursdays because of Thanksgiving. :)

Tell you what... I'll friend you and you can wander if you wish. I saw your culling post, and I agree, you don't want just anyone reading your journal. All my posts are flocked. It's probably not as awesome as you think, though I know a good bit of my flist, and I care about the people I know, very much. As *you* know Bob you're welcome in there, because I trust her absolutely.

I tend to post a bit.

Tell you what, I'll friend you back, and probably copy of a sort your Tuesday and Thursday themes. (if I can, I think that's brilliant!) I'll try to come up with original titles or give you credit.
I feel as you do "As *you* know Bob you're welcome in there, because I trust her absolutely. "

Of course that does not mean that her taste runs to our own, and so if at the end of a trial period say a month, we wish to remove our selves, no harm no foul.

Welcome [livejournal.com profile] bodhifox I'm Christine, nice to meet you.

Today's Tuneup is up now, BTW.

Already added today's list to your previous post. So obviously, I'm in...

Because, yeah, if *we* don't work to create the positive energy that is needed, no one else is likely to do it for us. Working on it, right beside you...

I don't know if I can do a full week, since I'm leaving on Monday, but I will attempt to do this. As a bonus, I'm going to try to come up with a list for today that has none of the stuff on the comment to your post.

things which do not suck: getting challenged to intentionally pick out the things which are cool, awesome, encouraging, upbeat, optimistic, fabulous, entertaining, wonderful, upbeat, the good news, and the things which RULE. Hey, if we are bringing 80's slang into it, the opposite of SUCK is RULE, so remember that.

one thing which does not suck is my vocabulary. I got referred to as "the thesaurus" during our Creative Writing class this summer.
=D

okay, I'll take that challenge.
