Whew! Massive update time

Let me just sit here for a moment and catch my breath! I've been going pretty much non-stop since Friday morning.

Friday, drove up to KC, following flocks of starlings that belled out against the cloud streaked sky. Was a nice, easy, contemplative drive, which I really needed. Scooped up [livejournal.com profile] bleuberi21 at her place along with [livejournal.com profile] ravenspirit70, and headed out (with much amusement at the French pronunciations from my GPS unit) to have dinner and a movie screening with [livejournal.com profile] everflame and her parents (and dude, your dad? totally reminds me of the Otherdad from the movie Coraline, but in a good way, and without the button eyes), [livejournal.com profile] cedarsong, [livejournal.com profile] bountifulpots, [livejournal.com profile] berkie, and [livejournal.com profile] starwyse. There was spaghetti and creme brulee and lots of wine and Dollhouse and Repo! and teeny wee zydrate necklaces (which I need to post a picture of) and laughter and much joy. The BDU plans had to be scrapped, as we were completely out of time, so back to Nikki's house for me, and some much needed sleep.

Saturday morning was up early for a trip to Penzey's with Nikki, and then headed over to The Nelson-Atkins Art Museum for a bit. Wandered around checking things out and listening to the audio tour, and then met up with [livejournal.com profile] lightonthesill and HatMan, [livejournal.com profile] funky_peacenki, [livejournal.com profile] digibri, [livejournal.com profile] femfataleatron, and [livejournal.com profile] kalinobeche. We traveled as a pack through the modern art area, and then kind of paired off to roam the rest of the museum. I wound up hanging with [livejournal.com profile] kalinobeche, who was a delightful companion to roam with, then met up with the rest for lunch. By this time, I was starting to develop one heck of a headache, so I begged off after lunch. I located the church the wedding I would be attending was to be held in, and still had about an hour before I needed to be there, so I used my handy-dandy GPS unit to locate a park nearby and kicked back and enjoyed some Tylenol and Claritin and a brief rest in my car, which helped immensely. Headed to the church for the wedding of [livejournal.com profile] titaniumdiva and [livejournal.com profile] whooter, which was simply lovely. I think it is incredibly cool that the first words I heard my friend speak were her wedding vows to her husband! After the wedding I headed into the reception where I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] arkhamrefugee for the first time. Enjoyed his company and the food while the wedding party was doing pictures, and then got to meet [livejournal.com profile] momof2girls for the first time and enjoy some time with [livejournal.com profile] rougewench, which made for a pretty awesome reception, since we were some of the few people there under the age of 60. The people at our table were incredibly interested in the fact that we'd all been brought together with the aid of the internet. Post reception, I delivered [livejournal.com profile] titaniumdiva's Daughter to her lodgings while her mom was honeymooning, which was kind of fun. She reminds me of myself at that age, and soon we were driving down the highway, Pink blaring on the radio and both of us singing along and talking about friends and boys and weightloss and all those things that are so important. *grins* Made it back to Nikki's and the headache was returning full force. I wanted to make plans, but my body told me otherwise. I crawled into bed and slept for 12 hours instead.

Sunday saw me waking up, spending some time with Nikki watching the live DVD of RENT, and then getting together with [livejournal.com profile] fyreseer to head to Independence, MO. Had a delicious meal of Indian food that my body wasn't at all certain of, dropped a quick howdydo to [livejournal.com profile] billthetailor and then went shopping at the mall, though I wasn't overly successful in that regard. Headed home...long drive, and more thinky thoughts that may well show up in a post very soon.

Today ran up to Tulsa to assist [livejournal.com profile] naamah_darling in the acquisition of pants, with the able assistance of [livejournal.com profile] bat_cheva. Then a quest for sushi was begun and concluded, and now I have a stomach full of rice and eel, which I consider a win.

Busy week ahead, but for now, rest, hot bath, good book, and sleep are the plans. Hopefully tomorrow can be catch up on LJ day before I work in the afternoon teaching Spanish. Will likely be "quick skim" kind of thing, except I definitely want to find anyone's Valentine posts and leave comments. I apologize that I haven't done so already, but I've been running constantly, as you can see.

I do love you all, my dears, and hope you will forgive my sporadic absences over the next few...months? Faire season is beginning, and life is about to get crazy.

Within the next few days, I plan a post on (gasp!) sex and a picture dump post. Let's see if I actually manage them!

Today we went to Fiji, and it was really good and...not cheap, but not unreasonable.

When I'm by myself or with Smog, we usually go to the Sushi Train, because, you know, Sushi...On A TRAIN!!!

We were going to go to Memories of Japan today, but it was closed on Mondays...Boo.

Always open to more recommendations, esp. of the cheap variety!

Admit it.

You occasionally get the urge to yell "Eels on a train!"

All the time.

Or, "I have had it with these muthafuckin' fish on this muthafuckin' train!"

Thankfully, I'm usually able to restrain myself until I get to the parking lot or the car, but then all bets are off.

Another good one...

"Yell, I dedicate this to Warren Ellis" and see who flinches at what you might do next.

Sushi train was my cheep one Memories of Japan is pretty reasonable too but if you really want to treat yourself got to "In the Raw" it's on the hill above Fujis the = stuff at fujis is the same price but they have some higher end treats also. Amy and I are always looking for and excuse for sushi so next time you in town let me know. mm Also a nice place in Owasso "near were I live" now family owned and the chefs are all really good not as cheep as sushi train but better than Funjis

The Other Dad? Really? In how he acts or how he looks?!? LOL.

I don't know if you could hear him giggling at REPO!, but Natalie and I kept thinking that if ya'll didn't know where I got my sense of humor before Friday, you do now. :D

We had a great time!

In looks, mostly. And somewhat how he sounds. And I should specify that it's the OtherDad before he gets all floppy and such. Like when he's playing the piano. It's not a bad thing, really.

Dude, when he laughed and was all, "I like the baby!" I kind of fell a little bit in love with him. Oh and at dinner, when he made the comment about always having a job when I was talking about being sick and feeling like I was dying, before I knew he was a doctor... made of LOL! Seriously, your folks are made of awesome.
