Thing #1 - One of my students yesterday randomly asked me if I'd ever seen Firefly. Of course I immediately proceeded to geek out hardcore to the poor kid. I think I scared him a little bit, but maybe not as much as I should have, since he later asked me if I had any "hot single friends under the age of 25", though he told me today that "up to 29 would be okay." Geeky boy with ambition FOR THE LULZ!

Thing #2 - Teaching sewing class today, when I heard one of the young men singing under his breath while he was piecing his quilt together. What was he singing? Repo!Man! We then proceeded to flail and geek out together, singing pretty much the whole damn soundtrack while I helped him pin quilt pieces. SO FULL OF WIN!

Thing #3 - Was bored during planning period, and wanted to show the kids that it was possible to make something cool out of the scads of retro fabric that is in the fabric room, so I picked up a piece of navy blue satin with red polka dots and a piece of sturdy red linen and whipped together a cute reversible totebag. I haven't really done anything like that before, but it didn't take me all that long, once I went through the mental mathematics of how to pin it so the lining would come out right with the handles on the outside and all of that jazz. It turned out pretty awesome, if I do say so myself, and all the teenagers were coveting it and trying to talk me into making them one. I told them I'd be happy to teach them how to make one, if they want to learn, and several are going to go buy cute fabric this weekend so they can have purses/totes/bookbags. I AM (apparently) COOL!

Thing #4 - I won a free e-book of steampunk erotica on one of the communities I'm on. I'll be reading it and reviewing it as soon as I get the chance. FREE EROTICA ROCKS!

Thing #5 - Bought some new bras, which I desperately needed. Can't wait for them to arrive. YAY TIT SUPPORT!

Thing #6 - Strongly thinking that I'll get my first ink when my federal return gets here. Look at me, stimulating the economy! HOORAY FOR TATTOOS!

Tomorrow is Coraline and OKRF Mixer, both of which I am looking forward to. Yay for good things!

You might check out the community [livejournal.com profile] steamfashion for some inspiration, and, of course, the website BrassGoggles.co.uk

OMG. :-D That reminds me of when Chris and I were in the rental store and this girl (probably about sixteen or so) was in there with her mother and she saw RENT had just come out and she grabbed it and started asking her mom if they could pick that one up. The mother didn't seem thrilled, so the girl put it back and started singing part of "No Day But Today" quietly as they kept looking and I sang the next line back at her, and she picked up on it and grinned as her mother gave us both a "WTF?!?" look. Hee

And yeah, geeking out over Firefly is always shiny. *G*

*grins*

One of my students (I'm a high school substitute teacher, BTW) is a huge RENT fan, and we were (quietly) singing Take Me Or Leave Me the other day...YAY for kids who embrace musicals!

It is an anthology, and I don't know who all is included. I'll post more as I know more, though, for certain!

I'm sure Repo! is going to take off on video. It's one of those things you get or you don't. That's cool one of your students likes it.

I can't wait for Coraline tomorrow.

My daughter would probably LOVE you as a teacher. She enjoys knitting and crocheting, costuming for theatre (and makeup, lights, sets, props and oh yeah, acting!), musicals, including Rent and Across the Universe (current favs) and then there's coffee. Yup, she would think you're totally cool. 'Cause you are! :)

Yay for geekiness and tattoos!! *smooch* I've decided I'm getting my spiral tattoo on the back of my neck now, thank you. =P

Are we going to get to see you while you're around for the mixer? I'm in Coweta!!

Repo Man?

Is that connected with the Emilio Estevez film?

No, no, no!

With Repo! The Genetic Opera which is an incredibly awesome, very gory rock opera starring Anthony Stewart Head (Giles from Buffy) and Sarah Brightman and Alexa Vega.

I can't imagine doing that to yourself on purpose...I mean, my boobs are already as big as my head, and her's are bigger than mine. She has over a gallon of silicone in her body! That's crazy!
