Something for me
Apr. 2nd, 2009 06:08 pmWent over to Stillwater today and took myself to lunch. Sat at the Sushi House listening to mellow indie rock (really liked Call It Off) surrounded by sherbert colored walls with local art on them and table lamps that resemble nothing so much as flower pistils. Sipped hot tea from a Japanese tea cup while reading Kushiel's Mercy and listening to two local university types converse, one of them being a leather jacket clad silver fox with a delicious Scottish accent. Ate sushi rolls with lots of wasabi and ginger and relaxed and breathed. Need to remember to do things just for me, all by myself, more often. It is said you can't love others until you love yourself, and if you love yourself, I think you should take yourself out on dates every now and then.
I love me. I'm the only me there is in this world. I love you. You are the only you there is in this world. When was the last time you did something nice for yourself? It doesn't have to cost money. Just spend a bit of time with yourself. I think you are all awesome people (I wouldn't have you in my life if you weren't) and you deserve something nice. I'd love to take you all to dinner somewhere quiet, sit where the lights are low and the waitstaff is unobstrusive, and listen to what is going on in your world. I know some of you have had really crappy weeks, even really crappy months and really crappy years. I can't take you out to dinner, but I'm here and I care. If there is something I can do to make your life better, I will try. I don't have much money, and time is premium, but I do want you to know that I care, that I'm out here listening and reading and wanting good things for you.
Be kind to yourselves and know you are loved.
