A good thing

Walking out in the front yard and plucking a wild green onion and knocking the dirt off and stripping off the outside layers and biting into that delicious tangy crispness takes me instantly back to being a child. I remember when I first realized that food was growing all around us, from the Muscadine grapes that grew along the fence line and over the arbor to the oonions that heralded the return of Spring every year to the wild raspberries that tumbled down by the creek to the fish that flashed in the sunlight as I swung out on the rope that dangled above the cool, albeit alligator filled waters.

Thank you, Earth, for the reminders of your abundance, and the care we should take with you.

Good? Bad? Matter of perspective.

Bad - Yesterday I accidently left my ATM card in the machine, and didn't realize it 'til I was a couple of miles away. Raced back to find it wasn't there, of course.

Good - The bank was still open, so I was able to leave my name and number, and they called me this morning to let me know they had it, that the machine had sucked it back in and kept it safe for me overnight.

Bad - When driving to retrieve my ATM card this morning, I realized that the light for my Daytime Running Lights was off on my dashboard, indicating a headlight had gone out.

Good - The replacement lamp only cost $9.00, and even though I will have to take my car practically apart to replace it, I have a beautiful day to do it, and I found it out when I had the time to replace it, not while I was out of town for the weekend and having to drive in the dark with one headlight.

Bad - Frequently, these kinds of setbacks would have me freaking out and curling up in a ball and refusing to deal with it.

Good - It isn't really phasing me today. Sure, I might not get all the sewing done I wanted to do before Con, but so what? It's not that big of a deal, and certainly nothing to get upset about! I have the tools to handle the tasks before me, I have the knowledge and confidence that I can accomplish what needs to be done, and taking it in baby steps will allow me to surmount any obstacle that appears.

I can do it! It's all a matter of attitude today.
