Having writer friends is awesome!
Feb. 27th, 2009 11:18 amI have friends who are writers. This is good for me, because it means I get to have books on my shelf like Lament by Maggie Stiefvater (whose next book, Shiver, comes out in August). It means I get to eagerly await books like Rosemary & Rue by Seanan McGuire, which comes out in September. It means that I know several of the authors (such as
seanan_mcguire and
archway) whose stories will be appearing in Ravens In The Library, which looks like it will be completely made of awesome! Have you ordered your copy? It also means that occasionally I get to read works in progress by friends who are on their way to being published. Now, to me, this is a sacred trust, because I know of books whose production has been completely stopped due to leaks. I would never violate that trust. I will say, however, that I just finished reading a work in progress that I will be screaming about loudly when it comes to publication time, because it rocked my socks off that much. One of those rollercoaster kind of books that made me laugh, cry, sigh, and even get angry. I look forward to the day I get to publish the Amazon link to it here, too, and I'm thrilled that there is some wonderful new literature soon to be available from some of my talented friends.
It's a good time to be a reader, folks!
