duane_kc - This really deserves a post of its own, but here goes. Honesty. Above all, someone who is honest with me and with themselves. A sense of humor that is a good mesh with mine. Sexual compatibility, which means their kinks line up with mine. Enough shared interests that we have things to talk about, and enough differences that we aren't clones and still have things to teach each other. Someone who will give me space enough to be myself, not suffocating. Enough ambition to do well in life but not so much that they are a work-a-holic. A person of faith, no matter what they believe in, so long as they have their own beliefs and are willing to respect mine. Someone who communicates with me, and understands that communication is the foundation of all relationships. Romantic. Loves to laugh. Chemistry. Commitment...what ever we decide that means. Intelligent.

...lightonthesill - Wow...another toughie! It is trite to say as long as I can remember, but seriously, it has been since childhood. I was always the one tied up in the neighborhood games, the damsel in distress. Then, as I got older and sexually active, I found that the rougher sex was, the hotter it was, for me. I started reading books and websites on BDSM as early as age 16. I tried asking for what I wanted in bed, with varying degrees of success. The boyfriends whose interests lined up with mine would last the longest...the ones who freaked out got kicked to the curb fairly quickly. I am now committed to only having fulfilling relationships in this sense, and will be up front about my needs to anyone I am considering a relationship with. Done with vanilla.
