Christmas glow
Dec. 25th, 2008 01:58 pmSitting around in a pair of red plaid fleece pajama pants (yes, still...I rule!) and my Christmas Story t-shirt, the soft glow of the lights on the Christmas tree on the opposite side of the room and enjoying the smell of turkey and ham wafting through the house. Mom is bustling around in the kitchen. I hear drawers and cabinets open and close as she prepares the Christmas meal. I don't dare step into the small galley kitchen unless I'm feeling particularly brave or particularly dumb.
Last night was a wonderful time with family, eating sub sandwiches and appetizer type noshings in a frenzy of flying wrapping paper. Got new clothes, a few DVDs, a very cool keychain digital photo thing, and all kinds of other stuffs. Am incredibly spoiled by my family, and was nice to spoil them in return.
Things I want to remember:
* Charlie, my landlord, coming over with his traditional card with a $100 bill tucked inside. He doesn't have to do this, and confirmed he doesn't do that for all of his tenants. I am so blessed.
* Mom accidently racking my brother with his big Christmas gift when she dropped it in his lap. OOPS! Merry Christmas! Have a laptop and a soprano singing voice!
* Nevaeh's reaction when she saw the gingerbread house Smog and I made. She led each family member over to see it, she stared at it for long periods of time, and she waved goodbye to it when they left, saying, "Bye Candy!"
It's been a wonderful Christmas for me. I am enjoying the beautiful Christmas cards that are spread all along the entertainment center...reminders that I am loved. I've enjoyed the texts and LJ messages and posts from my friends. The meal is almost ready, just waiting on the crescent rolls.
It has been a good Christmas.
