Happy Post: Day Aardvark
Dec. 12th, 2008 01:00 pmI have actual happys to report today!!!!
Happy #1: I got to spend my 3rd hour class teaching the three food science kids who didn't get to go on the field trip how to make Rice Krispie treats. We were supposed to watch a movie, but I looked around the class and saw there were marshmallows and Rice Krispies and asked the teacher before she left on the field trip if it was okay. She was thrilled with the idea, so we made treats, and she has one wrapped on her desk for when she returns. Leftover Spanish rice from their cooking yesterday and a Rice Krispie treat were my breakfast today. NOM.
Happy #2: Today is faculty luncheon, and both the principal and two other teachers went out of their way to make sure I knew about it and knew I was welcome to come eat. That's pretty swell!
Happy #3: I walked in to the faculty luncheon, and an old friend walked up and said hello and gave me a huge hug. She and I were in a play ages ago, along with her then finacee/ now husband, and she remembered me. She's moved back to Cushing and is subbing now, and they are starting a family together. Was lovely to catch up with her, and am hoping we can get together again soon. She is just as vibrant and wonderful as I remembered her to be!
Happy #4: Immediately after school, I'm going to go donate blood (and hopefully it will be successful, unlike last time) and I'm well fed, so I won't pass out, which is always a good thing.
Happy #5: Having exciting plans for the weekend gives me lots of good things to look forward to, involving giving back to someone in need, which always make me feel awesome, and attending a play with dear friends, and the play is a theatrical adaptation of one of my favorite Christmas movies: A Christmas Story. Also at some point going to look at Christmas lights with Mom & Smog, which is a favorite tradition of ours and one we didn't get to do much last year.
Today is a much, much better day than yesterday. There are still some unresolved things going on right now, but I'm choosing to live in joy in spite of them today. They will resolve themselves eventually, or not, but my life will go on either way. Thank you all for your kind encouragement on yesterday's post. It really helped, even though I couldn't find the words to say so yesterday.
