I've done the Valentinr things for a few years now, but I'm not participating this year. I really don't think I could handle opening it up on Valentine's Day and reading a handful of anonymous notes from people telling me they like me. I'm pretty sure that would break me this year. Valentine's Day is going to be tough enough this year...it's always a pretty shitty day for me, with few exceptions, and this year I'm going to be at a wedding. Now, I'm excited to go to that wedding, so incredibly excited, and I won't be weeping in the corner at it or anything, except tears of joy for the lovely bride, but it is still going to be a bold underscore of all the things I don't have and may never have.
I will put up a post on Valentine's Day, if you'd like to leave non-anonymous, screened love notes, but I truly can't handle any secret admirers right now. I would lose my cool.
I'm not signing any of the Valentinr things this year, either, but if you also put up a post on Valentine's Day where people may leave screened, non-anonymous love notes, I'll be glad to tell you why I am happy you are in my life. I think
valentines_09 is an incredibly neat community, too, but if you choose to utilize it, please don't leave me anonymous notes...it will only make me tear my hair out in frustration.
Love you all.

Date: 2009-02-04 09:55 pm (UTC)And your suggestion about making a Valentine's Day screened post is one that I had already begun to mull over. While I think the Valentinr thing is ok for some people, it smacks far too much of the whole 'competing for the most cards' thing which I still see in every school classroom despite all attempts to head it off. There are few things in life that I can say this about, but I *despise* school Valentine parties and everything that goes with them.
And, right at this moment in time, I don't need to be dealing with anything like this at all. About to post...
