In completely random order:

1) Root Beer - Yesterday, one of my students approached me in the hall and asked, rather hurriedly, "Do you like root beer?" I assured her I did, and she thrust a two liter bottle of root beer into my hand, saying emphatically, "Good!" as if she was glad to be rid of it. So I have root beer.

2) Walking With Dinosaurs - Expensive, yes, but seems incredibly cool, so I bought (cheap seat) tickets for Smog and I to attend on Sunday evening down in OKC. Because, you know, life is better with dinosaurs.

3) GPS unit - I has one. And it was purchased pretty cheaply, and I got the 2 year warranty, and a 10 dollar gift card to Best Buy, so that's all kinds of cool. Also, my GPS unit will talk to me in the voices of Darth Vader, Hannibal Lecter, GLaDos, and Stitch, and the GLaDos voice lies to you and promises you cake. My geek heart soars!

4) Movies - Have seen 3 new (to me) movies this past week, and enjoyed them all, for different reasons. Saw The Unborn (creepy as hell), Hedwig and The Angry Inch (strange, but cool) and Repo! The Genetic Opera (LOVED, and my fingers are itching to make some of Blind Mag's costumes, because they are made of cool.)

5) RockBand with Will - Because I never have to fight for the mic, and because he lets me sing all the No Doubt songs my heart can desire. And because we kick ass at Livin' On A Prayer. EDIT: Proof!

6) Sushi - Went up to Tulsa and hit the Sushi Train today. Because I could. OMNOMNOM.

7) Books - Been reading a lot lately. Delving into The Mists of Avalon right now. Smog is reading The Dangerous Book for Boys, which I got in hardback from paperbackswap.com for a credit. Very cool!

8) Art Class - Smog started a five week long art class last night, and I got to help out, and it was pottery, which I enjoy, so YAY!

9) Greeting cards - The greeting cards I sent out last week have made it to many of their destinations, and seem to have made some people smile and happy, so that's good.

10) Obama - Enjoyed watching it at school with the kids. Nice to see them excited about it, and watch their reactions to the speech Obama gave. Mom seems to be developing a begrudging respect for him as he starts his new job, which has eased tensions around here considerably.

So there you have it. I'm still being kind of incommunicado lately, because I am more likely to chew shoe leather than not right now, and I don't particularly enjoy it. Today was a beautiful day, though. Spring-like temps and sun help me to remember that no winter can last forever, even the winters of our soul.

May the sun shine warm upon your face, my friends, even if it is just the metaphorical sun.
